Endeavour half models

Endeavour is the name of two sailing yachts with which the British aircraft designer and regatta sailor Sir Thomas Sopwith tried to win the America’s Cup as a challenger in 1934 and 1937.

The Endeavour and Endeavour II belonged to the J-class.

Both boats were beaten by the US defenders, in 1934 by the Rainbow with 3:2 and in 1937 by the Ranger with 4:0.

However, our Endeavour ship models are undefeated!

The Endeavour has a very eventful history. She was decommissioned in 1938 after she had served as a training boat for the Endeavour II during the America’s Cup in 1937. Afterwards she changed owners several times without ever sailing again.

Between 1984 and 1988 she was restored under the supervision of the then US-American owner Elizabeth Meyer, after only parts of the hull were left. In 2001 a major overhaul took place.
