The RICKMER RICKMERS was built in 1896 as a full steel ship on transverse frames at the company’s own shipyard in Bremerhaven and named after the grandson of the company founder. The hull is 97 m long, 12.20 m wide and the draught was 6 m. It was commissioned in August 1896.
Our ship models are 100% handcrafted with precision and traditional frame construction with hull planking.
Among other things exotic precious woods such as teak, mahogany, rosewood or mango are used, which results in a valuable and decorative noble model as end product.
The hull is finely sanded after completion and varnished if intended. The model is then coated with a protective clear varnish.
Ornaments and decorations (e.g. cannons, portholes, anchors, dials and wheels …) are made of brass, chrome or other high-quality metals.
The sails are made of fabric or silk, the masts of wood and the ropes of solid cotton threads. Some of these ropes have special knots with which the ropes can be re-tensioned at any time.
Our models go through a strict quality control so that we can offer you a flawless product. The satisfaction of our customers is our highest priority. All models are delivered fully assembled.
